Integra Telecom Grew More Than 24% in 2003

Company Advances Free Cash Flow Positive Milestone and Announces Strong Customer Survey Results

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Apr. 6, 2004 — Integra Telecom continued to receive market validation of its business model in 2003 as small and medium-sized businesses throughout its operating regions embraced Integra's value proposition of local, responsive customer service. Integra ended 2003 with 24.3 percent growth in revenues compared to 2002; total access line equivalents (ALEs) in service as of December 2003 totaled 207,000, an increase over the December 2002 total of 168,000 ALEs.

"Integra's 2003 results continue to demonstrate strong demand from the small and mid-sized business market for a quality, facilities-based alternative to the incumbent, monopoly telecommunications providers," said Dudley Slater, chief executive officer of Integra Telecom. "We plan to continue to increase our market share in our five states operating in 2004, strengthening our brand and advancing our model."

Integra was free cash flow positive in 2003 generating $121 million in revenues and $28 million in EBITDA.

Free Cash Flow Positive Milestone

In early 2003, Integra became the first facilities-based competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) in the 14-state Qwest Communications service territory to be cash profitable - a key indicator of a business's health. This achievement was significant because it marked a graduation to the next phase of development for both the company and its industry as a whole. When many other CLECs and telecom companies have restructured debt and debt obligations and sought bankruptcy protection from creditors, Integra achieved free cash flow status without major layoffs or financial restructuring.

Award Recognition

Integra was named the 237th fastest growing private company in America by Inc. magazine; this marked the third consecutive year Integra has gained national recognition by being included on the Inc. 500 list. The Portland Business Journal also named the company to the list of fastest growing private companies in the Portland area. The listing earned Integra the coveted Lighthouse Award recognizing the company's fifth consecutive year on the list.

Customer Survey Results

Integra's hallmark of providing quality, user friendly customer service was validated in 2003 through the results of a Riley Research Associates customer survey in October that found 92 percent of Integra customers were somewhat to very satisfied with their service. The average overall satisfaction rating was 8.3 (on a 1-10 scale; 10 being very satisfied). "In nearly 20 years of satisfaction assessment across a wide variety of industries, Integra's scores are among the highest," said Michael J. Riley, research director of Riley Research Associates. "We rarely see the number of '10s' that we saw in the recent survey." When asked to rate Integra against their competition on a scale of 1-10, with five being equal to the average competitor, a statistically valid sample of Integra customers rated Integra at 7.9.
