Allied Telesyn iMAP Selected by Integra Telecom as IP/Ethernet Access Platform of Choice

iMAP to Serve as the Foundation for Reliable Service

San Jose, Calif., May 26, 2006 - Allied Telesyn, a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber infrastructure, today announced that Integra Telecom, of Portland, Ore., has selected Allied Telesyn's iMAP as its new IP access platform for all of its future communications needs. Integra selected the iMAP because of its unique ability to support multiple services simultaneously on a single platform, enabling Integra to meet current service demands while laying the foundation for future growth. By standardizing on Allied Telesyn and the iMAP, Integra will also benefit through increasing operational efficiencies across its many business units.

After testing multiple platforms, Integra selected Allied Telesyn’s iMAP based on its flexibility, scalability and value. Integra, one of the fastest-growing integrated communications carriers in the United States, required a platform that supports a comprehensive mix of technologies, including ADSL2+ and POTS. The iMAP will provide access for high quality, IP based services including POTS, and high speed data without necessitating difficult and expensive replacement of existing infrastructure.

“Integra is entering a period of rapid expansion, and we need a platform that enables us to roll-out sophisticated services while meeting the demands of business consumers,” said Dave Bennett, vice president of network planning and engineering for Integra. “We feel the iMAP will ensure we minimize our operational expenses as well as enable new revenue streams as we expand our network.”

Integra Telecom services 23 metropolitan areas in eight states. Headquartered in Portland, Ore., Integra serves more than 300,000 access line equivalents. Integra provides service to 10 to 15 percent of the SMBs in the metropolitan areas of Oregon, Washington, Utah, Minnesota and North Dakota. With its pending acquisition of Electric Lightwave, Inc. Integra will become one of the largest and most cash profitable local exchange carriers in the West.

“We are delighted that Integra Telecom has chosen the Allied Telesyn iMAP as the next generation IP access platform,” said Allied Telesyn Executive Vice President of Global Marketing & Product Development Philip Yim. "As the world's most flexible and full featured carrier-grade Multiservice platform, the iMAP provides Integra with one common, scaleable foundation to cost-effectively address all its subscriber demands for copper and fiber access.” The RUS-accepted, NEBS-certified iMAP is an environmentally-hardened access and transport solution that delivers carrier-class next-generation and traditional telco services over Ethernet/IP. The iMAP is designed for POTS (MGCP/SIP), xDSL, T1/E1, Ethernet, active fiber and GEPON FTTx technologies and 10G backhaul. Now powering over 100,000 IP Triple Play ports, Allied Telesyn’s iMAP accommodates both fiber and copper-based deployments from a single platform. Ideal for new access deployments and upgrades, the iMAP features a modular chassis design that simultaneously supports different IP/Ethernet networking solutions for access, transport, and network service aggregation.
