Native Ethernet Service For Small and Mid-Sized Businesses
PORTLAND, Ore., June 16, 2008 - Integra Telecom Inc., a facilities-based, integrated communications carrier for business, launched Ethernet Solutions in Boise, Idaho and Salt Lake City, Utah. The service, referred to as Ethernet Solutions Metro E IP, offers businesses increased Internet bandwidth via native Ethernet protocol.
"This product release adds to Integra's robust offering of easy to use business communication services," said Dudley Slater, CEO of Integra Telecom. "Increased reliance on the Internet has caused small and mid-sized businesses to demand greater levels of bandwidth that were previously demanded by large businesses. Ethernet Solutions Metro E IP allows us to provide an affordable solution to our customers' growing bandwidth needs."
Native Ethernet has traditionally been delivered by fiber, resulting in significant cost hurdles for both the service provider and the customer. Integra's new Ethernet Solutions provides a native Ethernet connection without the extensive costs of building a direct fiber connection.
Integra's Ethernet Solutions offers options of five, 10, 15, 20 or 30 megabits per second (Mbps) of full-duplex, symmetrical IP bandwidth. These increments allow for growth, while making it possible for customers to choose a bandwidth that meets their current business needs.
"Integra's Ethernet Solutions provide a cost-effective service that has allowed us to make the leap up from our previous T1 service," says Scott Morgan of Spectrum Engineers in Salt Lake City, an Integra Telecom Ethernet Solutions customer. "Until now, fiber options have been largely out of reach. The Ethernet bandwidth from Integra has provided me with what I need to support our business."
Boise and Salt Lake City are the first of Integra's markets to deploy Ethernet Solutions. The company intends to roll the service out in its additional markets throughout 2008.
All Integra products and services are backed by locally based customer care representatives and technicians.
